I have heard from quite a lot of .470 owners that had guns that were regulated with the Federal Woodleigh loads that switched over to the new Hornady DGX factory loads and saw no change in regulation. That is no surprise, as they would taylor their new factory ammo to regulate in a similar fashion as to what most people were shooting in the past (Fed / Woodies). The Hornady ammo is also more consistent as far as velocity is concerned - and a lot cheaper. In my .470 it doesn't make a difference what I shoot at what speed, by the way - slower calibers like the .470 are not as finicky in regards to regulation anyhow. But I'd go with the Hornaday, the Federal holds no advantage and is overpriced. |
