Quote: EAA is an importer. They've been around a while, but they gained their "fame" {infamy at times} with the original importation of the Russian Baikal guns. Service from them was staggeringly atrocious, service staff attitude worse, and the guns they brought in varied from cheap but serviceable and very nice "for the money" to absolute cobs. They sold the Baikal guns for some years then entered into some sort of agreement with Remington, who as has been stated, commanded control of the sales and merely slapped $100 more on the price tag for no improvement of the breed. Those who thought Remington might tweak the engineering on them and guarantee better QC were immediately proven to be dreamers of the pipiest sort. Everyone has their opinions on this stuff, but I agree 100% with the post here about the .577 and .600 guns. Yes, yes, there are those fellows who shoot these big ones and in some way enjoy them, but most, meaning in my opinion, damn near all the fellows that buy these things will regret it, whether they admit it on a forum or not, and just as is said, this will be proven as the guns quietly slip back on the market. "Only Put 4 Rounds Thru It" will no doubt be a great selling point. Fun, sure. Everybody wants a .600 or a .577! And SOME guys {some guys here} actually enjoy shooting this sort of stuff. Good for them. I admit it. My mind about these things has changed over the years. Mostly changed by my association with mean horses. All men that stand around the corral and look at the wild thing kicking dust up in the middle talk big about squeezing leather and catching a glimpse of the young gals winking but most of us that have a few gray hairs and have done it a few times would rather get a hug from the wife than hug our balls for a fortnight while we relish the memories of our equine conquest. You can have the .577 and .600. Or come to think of it. Maybe a guy could make a nice sideline business. Buy one and travel with the carnival. Charge $50 to shoot it so every wannabe bwana can say he did without actually having to plunk down hard cash for a wallhanger. ![]() |
