Came across an interesting old double in India. A 475 NE calibrated for 480 grains bullet with 85 grains of Cordite. It is a box lock bearing the markings of Alfred Field and Co. The rifle couldnt have been fired much because 475 ammo is hard to get in India but surprizingly the barrel shows shallow grooves. Alfred Feild does not seem to be a regular manufacturer either. Could the experts help ? |
