Re: To case or not to case?

I have to agree with Rusty and 2triggers, there is no way I would trust my rifle in transit overseas in anything but the toughest, most durable aluminium/foam/armoured case I can find. I watched these gentlemen bounce my rifle off the top of a carriage on the tarmac at Windhoek, heart missed a beat and I figured I was using the guide’s rifle for the week. Judging by the state of the case, this wasn’t the first time it had been “bumped” on this trip. The rifle survived, the case did not.

As for an oak and leather case for the Hollis, I’m looking for something to restore right now. Not for future resale values, just for the aesthetic pleasure of showing her off as she should be. I intend visiting all the game fairs this summer, looking for all those bargains, old tools and essential oil bottles and whatnots. One thing I have never seen at the fairs are trade labels. Does anyone know where a trade label for A Hollis can be got?

Regards

Phil
