Date codes are not reliable with repsect to bore size of the 8's. German sporting arms makers stuck to the J bore for a long time, in some cases decades, after the military converted to the S bore. Since this one is marked 7.9 rather than 7.8, I'd kinda expect it to be an S bore, but wouldn't fire it on a guess. It needs to be slugged.
