I have used several 9.3x74r doubles for hunting, both sxs and o/u, using iron sights and scopes, and have done same with numerous other calibers. The 9.3x74r is a wonderful caliber, the best early day caliber to be developed by the Germans, in my opinion; easy to understand why it is so well liked and popular in Europe. For double rifles of all kinds, sxs or o/u, I personally prefer to keep scope as small in size/weight, as possible, to conform to slim trim 9.3x74r rifle, so I don't like variable scopes. A single power, 3 or 4 power, scope works just fine, for most instances, for realistic field conditions, while variable power scopes are a waste of time and money; only needed, perhaps for varmint long range shooting. |
