Thank you Empire. I too believe that. The fervor that the collectors have for the originality of English double is only equaled by somes religious devotion. The refinish ( I still find no STATEMENT in the ad that it is refinished but I DO believe it was) is to me quite nicely done and the engraving while not similar to the original maybe is quite tasteful. While I have no desire to own fully engraved guns I do not find this one offensvie in any way. I would not pay $40,000 for ANY gun just as I would not pay $1,000,000 for any automobile nor would I pay a large amount for a Rembrandt or particularly a Picasso.I do have several Hugh Cabot oils that I DID pay rather large amounts as they DO appeal to me.The thing I take exception to is the fact that collectors of English Doubles seem to have zero tolerance for anyone else's view on the subject. They are entitled to have these views and to make comments about such views but by the same token so am I.
