Hi fellas, Anyone know much all about the Verney-Carron Sagittaire range of O/Us? I stumbled across one second-hand in 9,3x74R at a very attractive price, but I know virtually nothing about the guns themselves. I contacted the importer to get some detail info, but I'd appreciate some first-hand user experiences, either good or bad. A couple of things caught my eye: - adjustable regulation of the barrels like the Valmet system. A Valmet owner recently told me they don't hold the regulation too well but need to be re-regulated every year. Any info on the VC system? It's their own patent. - the quick-mount for the scope is also VC proprietary. Any good at all? Does the scope hold it's zero? - the safety. What the hell is the point with it? Seems ok once you get used to it, but will be difficult to operate once you've sat on your ass in -20 degrees waiting for the moose that never showed up. (Or worse: DOES show up and your frozen fingers cannot operate that little lever.) For those that don't know: it's a little lever next to the trigger inside the trigger guard. - reliability and quality overall? The better models (Demas and L'Atelier Verney-Carron) seem to be held in high esteem; but which hand-made wouldn't? I'm looking for info on the "stock" models. - Lars/Finland |
