Beautiful vintage double and, by the way, I believe the .318 doubles were regulated for the 250 gr bullet, not 240 grains as mentioned elsewhere in the thread. The only 'period' .318 loadings were 180 grains (not desirable) and 250 grains. A .318 with that 250 grain long bullet and great sectional density should be about the equivalent of a modern .338 Win Mag, only with about 10 times the sex appeal. It would certainly be adequate for anything in N. America and most things elsewhere. In addition to that, the cartridge itself is beautiful to behold - like a fine vase.

$19,5k USD is a very reasonable price for a first grade London sidelock .318 assuming very good condition. George Caswell had a .318 WR boxlock some time ago (may still have) that was listed at $16.5k.
