The difference between the hammer rifle, and the so-called hammerless rifle is the hammerless has a safety the safes both barrels with one button. The exposed hammer gun has two safeties one for each hammer, or no safety at all. When the safety on the hammerless is set to fire it is in the same condition as the exposed hammer gun that is cocked, and the stalking safeties, if fitted with them, are set to fire both barrels then they are simply dependant on the quality of the sear engaguement. If that is good, one is as safe as the other! What I mean by my not useing stalking safeties on my hammer rifles is, when I set the safety on to fire it would make no difference which type I was useing, both would be ready to fire either, or both barrels! |
