Yeah,as you say. When the safety is of, they are ready to fire, hammer or hammerless.

So, I guess it is just as "safe" to go hunting with a hammer double/drilling as a hammerless, as long as they are in good condition.
And that goes for ALL guns.

Can I ask what double hammer guns you hunt with? BP or also Nitro?
