Geyger did excellent work. I see the floor plate's been off and back on - who knows why or by whom, but it looks like a Swiss Army Knife was involved in the process judging by the screw slots. I'd bet a Pilsner that the mechanics are fine anyway... Budget a trip to a proper double rifle mechanic for a strip/clean and make sure that the trigger plate group gets good attention. Don't try both of those set-triggers at the same with both chambers lit unless you're *really bored* that day. I bet it handles and points nicely. I wouldn't kick it out of my rack. 'Fair market' on something like this ain't what it was two years ago - but the maker's known and the caliber is popular. My seat o'the pants number is in the five to seven grand neighborhood. You're going to see rifles on the web with higher asking numbers, but look back a ways and you'll see they've been lingering with those numbers for a while. Stroll through completed auctions on Gunbroker and Auction Arms. That might give you a better sense of what the market's giving for nice European gear like what you've presented here. If you can swing a deal on it you'll likely be happy with the rifle. Good success to you, let us know how it shakes down in the end. Cheers Tinker |
