Hi all I am new here to the forum. But it is a great forum, so much info to read about all my loved things in life But, I hope some can help me. I am seeking my first double gun, but what to look for and to stay away from? I am seeking, dreaming, of a old British or German double, pre WW2. The Germans did make some of, if not the best, guns back then. But, are they "to" old to use today? When it comes to what cal. I am a bit mad, dreaming of a 475#2 or a 476. Why? "All" got a 470 or 500 and I just like to have one a bit off the main road. Yes, I know it is more easy to go for a 470 or 500, but.....hmmmmm..Guess that is why I use a 9.2*64 on my moose hunting in Norway, a 7*57 on roe deer. I like these old cal. But, is a used old 470 or 500 easy to find? Made more of them back then? I was thinking of a short 577, but I think the recoil may be a bit heavy for me. These old cal. 475#2, ,476 and also the short 577 was used on all games in Africa, Asia back then, and are just as good today. That is why I like to bring one back to life, take it to Africa or Australia for what it was made to do...hunt the large animalīs that walk there. Thanks for looking |
