Doublerifle nut, I don't know anything about current Rigby rifles but have you seen the prices
on new Hollands or Purdeys and do you know how many man hours go into their production ? They will
never be cheap and I often think they are like fine watches, you never really own one, you just look after it for the next generation best, Mike

Mike, the current Rigbys are nowhere near worth the asking price IMO! The name is only a factor if it is engraved on a UK Rigby! I'm not saying the rifles aren't good rifles, just that they are not worth their asking price.

The man hours is not all that is involved in the cost of makeing a double rifle. You can put in a lot of man hours washing dishes in a large resturante, but with a double rifle, it is skill involved in those man hours, and the lack of qualified people to do that quality of work, that sets the price, to a point. However, the name engraved on the rifle has doesn't discount the acceptance of that price by the buyer!
