Re: Photos last Friday the 13th in the bush with my double

Thanks. Let me try to answer the questions:

This buff population was formed over 40 years ago when buffalo from the "murrah" breed (fom india) were released and fled themselves in the marshes. These buff are big and really mean when hit. After they are hit they donīt care about saving themselves, they just want to kill you!!

In Brazil we also have the "carabao" breed (similar to the Australian buffalo) in feral populations both in the norther and western part of the Amazon.

The other breed is the "jaffarabadi" which is also found in some wild/feral populations, but are mostly tamed.

These buffalo now roam a 100kms radius, south of the amazon river in the Mato Grosso. The area is all private, with ranches from 10.000 to 150.000ha (1ha=2.2 acres). The new laws requires that only 50% can be deforestated, and the ranchers leave the marshes untouched which is great for the buff.

The ranch I was hunting has 20.000ha of soybeans and 30.000ha of forests and bogs, where we suspect there are around 200 heads.

The temperature was around 35, which is cool compared to my last time there!!!
