I've spent a lot of my hunting career hunting big bears in Alaska. I've never owned an 8x75, but i do own and hunt a lot with an 8x57. I also own a couple 9.3x74R's. (a double and a combo) I do not consider the 8x57 "enough" for brown bears, but the 9.3x74R with 286 grain loads sure is. I'd say the 8x75 with good bullets, would be a decent big bear round too. I always figured the 8x57 would need a bit more velocity to give the type of penetration i like on big bears, and the 8x75 would give that... BTW, i prefer 200NP's in my 8x57... DM |
