I got a blemished one for the same price as the Leupold, which I was originally looking at, and it has an illuminated reticle. It is a little big though. The Nightforce NXS 1-4X is very compact with great optics and quality as well but you pay for it.
IMO, you will have to go pretty long and hard to beat the nightforce--awesome optics and awesome durability...BUT, as stated, quality in today's world is not cheap.. they are a bit on the heavy side as well..
