It's been discussed ad nauseum here about whether the Merkels rifles are built on a 20 Gauge action or the 20 Gauge is built on a rifle action. The verdict, as far as I can tell, is it doesn't matter. No one seems to have had a problem with them no matter what they are built on.

The Chapuis are good, I guess, but I can't get my mind off of their old reputation of being soft steel and thus coming off face easily. I think that is why they went to the Double hook under bite in the first place. I've been told they use better steel now but old prejudices die hard.
