I can't imagine owning double rifles without something in the 7mm to 8mm range. 7x57R, 7x65R, 30/40 Krag, 8x57JRS - these are marvelous cartridges and totally every-day useful in North America. The boomers - .450/400, .450 3.25", .470 and .500 all have appeal, but their uses are so limited that only a man of wealth can use one. Few of us can afford a safari in Africa; and if we do, it's likely to be once in a lifetime. The calibers I mention are great "woods" guns. The average white tail hunter or black bear hunter will see the reason to have one. He needs no ticket to Africa for their use. You get Americans thinking that way, and the market will open for lots of sales. That's the way it is on the continent of Europe. Curl |
