I will be ordering a 577 nitro next week . I want the double to come in at 11-12 pounds. Ive been told that this can be done by shortening the barrel by one inch(from 26-25 inch). My question to you pros? is there a reason not to go to 24 inches? I'm new to doubles. I understand the rifle will be regulated to 50 yards anyway. What sizes barrels do you all have ..thanks steve [/quote
I built my .577 2.75" NE with a 24" inch barrel and balanced it at 12.5 currently. Any lighter and it will beat the snot out of me. At this weight the recoil is a big push, and not a slap, or head ringer.
BTW, what a hoot it is to shoot! And its loud! Muzzle blast can be felt from behind the gun. Currently I'm regulating it to 116 grains of IMR4831 and a 650 grain Hawk bullet. This produces 1950FPS which is right at factory ammo.
