All of this certainly makes the recoil of the .460 seem manageable when compared to a .577 that weighs 3 pounds more. I had a .460 with a Pendleton brake and the recoil seemed very manageable when shot in the upright position. It seemed very much like a Krieghoff in .500NE I've shot many times. I've since sold the .460Wby to my brother and replaced it with a .416Wby. It does seem to justify a weight of 14-15 pounds as ideal for a .577 with a 26" barrel. Have fun with this order, AKA! I can see it now; sitting at the table with many variations of specs crossed out and re-written on several sheets of paper with the company catalog at your side and an order form safely to the side with a Mont Blanc pen waiting to be used for the first time in transferring this dream onto paper. ![]() |
