My Siace came with the factory target used for regulation shooting Federal 300 gr, factory ammo. 1 1/2" group at 50 meters dead on the bullseye. I wanted to shoot a heavier bullet so I came up with a number of loads using the Hornady 350gr. round nose, and settled on the 60gr. Varget loading. I had to replace the front sight insert with a slightly higher one due to my change in loads. The Varget loading keeps the pressure at 29K psi, and as I said the penetration is awesome at 2,000fps. I was lucky to be able to re-regulate the gun with handloading as I would not consider having this gun altered. I took it elk hunting this November, and it was so fun to have in the woods, but the elk stayed safe. I have another permit that lasts through the end of January here in Colorado, and the Siace is just waiting for the right moment. The gun is light at just over seven pounds, but for high altitude hunting I do not want a heavy gun ever. Recoil is so much fun, and it seems like a 450NE. Trigger pulls are crisp and about 5 pounds, just my guess. The wood is awesome! The engraving is reaaly nice as is the color case hardening. I handled a few doubles here in Denver before the Siace, and I absolutely love the way this gun feels. I am 5'10", 170lbs. Bob. |
