Hello, all of you: I need some help with my latest adquisition, a Franz Sodia in 8x60RS of 1958 vintage. I have no idea about bullet weight or speed and there are no indications anywhere in the rifle. I have tried 180 and 200 grains bullets and Tubal 5000, a medium powder similar in burning rate to IMR 4895, but even if I lower the powder charge, the rifle crosses the shots 4-5" at 25 meters. Estimated speeds are around 2300-2400fps, according to the reloading manuals. The groups are good with each barrel, one above the other. I have never tried to regulate one over/under double, and as the two barrels are above the rotation point of the weapon (on firing both barrels move upwards) I have not clear ideas of the effect of the usual changes on regulation. Any ideas about bullet weights, speed or the loads used fifty years ago? Any of you has experience with over/under regulation? Thank you Antonio Molins, Madrid, Spain |
