Peter, I agree.

Actually, my opinion is that the 7.62x54R/7.62x53R would be a fine cartridge for doubles. Maybe a wee bit too much case taper, but ballistics are superb and it would make a great and practical round. Ditto for the necked-up 9.3x53R which is a ballistic twin to the 9.3x57 Mauser.

I shot the 7.62 round extensively when I had a collection of Mosin-Nagant rifles but have only shot one head of game with it, a black bear on which it was a "light switch"; turned the bear "Off".
