Quote: Since purchased, this rifle was christened "Zabardast" meaning Awesome in Urdu, a suggestion by my friend Iqbal on these forums. Zabardast has managed to take three large water buffalo bulls, a scrub bull, some donkeys and pigs, a few deer, a couple of elephant cows and most recently a banteng bull. So with the last it has come as close as possible to the engraved Gaur that is legally possible today. Some more of the above is no doubt in its future. But as a proven bovine slayer, cape buffalo eluded it in 2006 and will need still to fall to it, plus other bovines. Bison perhaps? South American or South/Sout-East Asian water buffalo? Maybe outback Aussie camels, if I can get close enough! *** Wouldn't it be wonderful to know the history as well of these vintage rifles. Did it ever slay a tiger, an Indian elephant, perhaps a sambar, or even a Gaur? And in whose hands? |
