i will be the first to tell you i dont know about double rounds all my info is from here or the few books that carry it.or the info from the net and this forum.so i ask is hornadays ammo to hot for this double.400

Hornady's .450/.400 3" NE factory ammunition was developed and pressure tested in a CIP spec barrel. It is CIP compliant. Heym regulates their new .450/.400s with Hornady ammo. IIRC, your .400 is a new European built O/U. There should be no issue at all with using Hornady ammo in it.

i just am a novice all i saw was the numbers and i still dont know what they mean i know saami is used here and cip is international but that is all i can tell you about the two.

Worth clearing up. Metallic cartridges are standardized (dimensions, max pressures, etc.) here by SAAMI. In Britain and Europe, it's done by CIP. None of the flanged nitro double rifle cartridges specifically intended for use in double rifles have been standardized by SAAMI (.470 was, but that data is out of date), as they're not American cartridges and have not been loaded here until very recently. They are all standardized by CIP only. Some American cartridges have also been standardized by CIP, such as .45/70.
