IIRC, your .400 is a new European built O/U. There should be no issue at all with using Hornady ammo in it. Quote: Worth clearing up. Metallic cartridges are standardized (dimensions, max pressures, etc.) here by SAAMI. In Britain and Europe, it's done by CIP. None of the flanged nitro double rifle cartridges specifically intended for use in double rifles have been standardized by SAAMI (.470 was, but that data is out of date), as they're not American cartridges and have not been loaded here until very recently. They are all standardized by CIP only. Some American cartridges have also been standardized by CIP, such as .45/70.
