My first double would and is a 9.3x74R. It is suitable to hunt anything in Australia. Easy on the shoulder to shoot, ammunition and reloading components are readily available and the rifle is affordable. (Fabarm Asper) So far I have taken one pig in the Northern Territory. IF I was to get to Africa, I would have no problem hunting with this rifle loaded with Woodleigh projectiles excluding elephant and rhino. If I could afford a second double it would be a 450-400 3". I have this calibre in a Ruger #1 but yet to fire it. I have fired a 500 express (rifle did not fit me) and I found the recoil above my tolerance limit. 2 shots were enough. 450 3 1/4 I can cope with. |
