I shot fourteen water buffalo on that trip with that rifle. Most took one to three shots to kill or keep down. Most dropped on first shot, but may have required one or two more shots to keep down. Cows and smaller bulls only.

Pigs dropped well of course. As did horses.

The scrub bull refused to drop or die. Tough old bugger.

The donkey was the worst and as usual took more than expected to get it to drop.

9.3x74R did well. It is a great brush and driven medium game calibre, perfect for sambar. Also makes a not too bad minimum of buffalo and the like.
