Hello, Alex: I hunt with my doubles from several years ago. Strictly, my first double, a Merkel in 9,3x74R, was adquired with that purpose. Later I bought a Francotte in 450 BPE and it too has gone hunting, and a great experience it was. It is wonderful returning to its intended use a rifle of 85 years. It is also wonderful the face of your hunting buddies when they realize your old double still works fine! In Spain, where I live, we have not dangerous hunt; but in our driven hunts of boar and stag, when one boar (or more than one) running ahead of dogs crosses a "cortadero" (a 20 yard opening in the bush), the DR two shots are really handy! Use your doubles, they are very practical tools! Antonio Molins, Spain. |
