Re: Best bang for the buck

The Merkel 9.3 lists for $6,127.00. I can have these rifles regulated with any standard load. My 140 is regulated with the Norma 286 Alaska rd as I plan to use her mainly in Africa, I also reload with the 286 gr Woodleigh bullet. I am not convinced that the lighter 141 is a good candidate for the 9.3 rd. My personal view is that the adj regulation on the 141 muzzle is an unnecessary complication, but some customers like this feature, I also feel that the 141 is two light a rifle for the 9.3 rd.

We stock reloading components for the .470NE. Federal ammo is $244.00 per 20. I am still waiting for price conformation for the Norma ammo.

There are plenty of good DR in use that are chambered for higher pressure rimless rds like the .375 and .416, they do work, but my personal belief is that a DR should be chambered for a low pressure rimmed rd. Merkels in rimless rds I will bring in to order only.

I believe the 9.3 x 74R is a superb cartridge, an excellent choice for large North American game and she can still hold her own in Africa in all but the most dangerous encounters.

I hope the above info helps.
