The 700 Nitro dies a terrible death..

I have only seen about 6 or so really nice doubles chambered in this round over the years. The one that sticks in my mind was a Holland & Holland that was offered by Bill Jaqua years ago in Las Vegas. Adorned with deep chisel relief and fighting dinosaurs, cased in a burl walnut chest.. I believe Bob Peterson bought the gun.

The 700 cartridge never gained popularity, and has fell to the wind.. Here’s a nice example by J&L Wilkins that has sat, and sat, and sat with no takers. At 1000 grains,
Muzzle Velocity of 2000 ft/sec, and Energy of 8900 ft/lbs then add 17lbs 6ozs to your pack, and go figure.
