Searcy 450 NE left handed

I have my new Searcy 450 NE and have been able to get it out to the range to shoot. Needless to say like all of Butch's doubles it is accurate and I won't have to worry about missing what I am shooting at. You'd think the europeans with the price of there rifles would be able to match what Butch does down in Boron, California. The gun is beautiful and like a slim lady coming in about 9.5 lbs. The Searcy rifle is not at all blocky and is quite well made. I had my gun smith who was trained in germany come down with me and he was impressed with the quality of the guns he saw in Boron as he was with mine. Enclosed a photo.

What a fine rifle!

Butch has improved by leaps and bounds.

And a great caliber.

Congratulations,

They do, and in spades. Nice looking rifle, but you obviously haven't much experience with European DRs.

Re: Searcy 450 NE left handed

Just so some don't bust a gut over my statement about european doubles, I was referring to accuracy not the beauty of their work. I own several shotguns from custom european makers that are just beautiful. Sidelocks at that, they hunt and shoot well. This Searcy double just shoots very well, even for someone who is just becoming learning to shoot the rifle properly.

Driftwood,

Point well made.

Keep us advised as to how your rifle shoots, what loads,
and what critters you shoot with it. It's good to have
some new blood in the forum.

Re: Searcy 450 NE left handed

I took my rifle into my german gunsmith friends shop yesterday so he could show it to some of his customers who own european doubles. They had never heard of a Searcy before. There were two gentlemen there that took the gun completely apart. Both thought the wood was beautiful and thought the gun to be well made. Both were impressed with the quality. One of these gentlemen has handled all diffenent makes of doubles and stated that the quality of my rifle was superb. The fit and finish there was nothing to complain about. One had just bought a Krieghoff and had spent considerably more than I had for my Searcy, he was duly impressed with Butch's work. Both thought I had gotten a good deal.
