Searcy 450/400 Regulation Load

Do you guys know Butch's regulation load from Superior? I am tring to pull together some components and need to know the specs. My rifle is scheduled to arrive later this week and I have no ammo (thanks to an apparent brass shortage at Superior). I have managed to acquire all the hardware (dies, press, brass, Woodleigh bullets etc...). I just need to know the powder, # of grains, primer and any other pertinent data. Butch is out of the office today, or I would ask him...

A new rifle without ammo is worse than not having the rifle at all....

82 grains IMR 4831 might not regulate well in a rifle regulated with Hornady factory ammo, as it's a fair bit hotter.

Why not call Searcy and ask him about it. He's given regulating loads for others rifles in the past IIRC.

Can't do tat, too obvious, prefer to ask the
whole world instead of picking up the phone
and phoning the person themselves !!!!

Hmm, that brass shortage at Superior is interesting, since i ordered a box of 450/400 from them last week and they didnt mention any shortage......but then again they didnt say when I'd be getting the ammo either. I better give them a call.

Re: Searcy 450/400 Regulation Load

Just to clarify, the rifle was regulated for the standard "regulation load" rather than the Hornady load.

Shanster, Thanks for the info.

AK Mike/500Nitro, I did note in my orginal post that Butch was out of the shop, thus I posted here on the forum seeking some assistance in order to expedite the process.

I didn't see that out of office part. Sorry.
IMO It's still going to be faster and better to get the load straight from him.

Re: Searcy 450/400 Regulation Load

Butch loads all his own ammo. I have been to his shop when I picked up my rifle.

Re: Searcy 450/400 Regulation Load

I was able to speak with Butch today. We worked out the details and have a solution. Shanster was correct with his breakdown of the load. I am quite anxious to run some rounds through my new rifle. Thanks again for the assistance.

Have you been able to get brass? If not let me know I could send you some loaners to get you started
