In trouble!

Hi guys!

I am in serious trouble know and I dont know what to do.

I have been offered a SdS in 450 BPE with a second pair of fitted 12 gauge shotbarrel. Its a Husqvarna model 410 ie based on the 300 Shotgun locks.

Bores are good, wood is good, forearm is a bit tattered but ok.

Those were the god news, here are the bad the rifle barrels has been redone and blackened instead of slow rusted, I belive that I see the beginning of the soldering letting go in the pics I have got.

Further more the shotbarrels are loose ie there is a 1/10 mm play to the back of the locks, there is no sideplay.

OK here is the deal I can get the gun for a so so price, but I will have to have the riflebarrels resoldered and the shotbarrels refitted.

Second what to do with the 450 BPE, i cant use BP to hunt with in Sweden, I know there are Smokeless for BP-loads but what bullet should I regularte with if I buy, the 350 grain Woodleigh?

Should I order Hawks?

Any one please advice me, I am sort of torn!

Best regards Chris.

Re: In trouble!

Regarding loads for the BPE. I would start with the nitro for black loads listed in Shooting the English Double Rifle by Graeme Wright. And I would use Woodleigh softs, not Hawk, unless it is impossible to get Woodleighs to regulate. But I have always found that Woodleighs regulate easier than Hawks. You could also try cast lead bullets, but if Woodleighs work then I would stop right there and go hunting!

Re: In trouble!

Thanks 500grains

I will try to get that book, there is no one here that has a scanned version to share or otherwise likes to give me the recipies for just the

350 Woodleighs and 450 BPE.

Any one on advice wheter or not to get the rifle and if so does the fact that i probably will need a resoldering of the barrels to work is it still a Buyer?

Best regards Chris.
