What do you think of the double rifles Big five "Krieghof" in .500 NE? Do you have some experiences with it? Thank you for the informations? |

my only experience is in handling them. personally, I'm not a fan of the "cocking/safety" feature. but don't let that sway your opinion, as it's really a personal preference. |

I have had one in .470 since 1999 and have shot 2 elephants, 2 charging desert leopards, and I beleive 6 buffalo with it. I love to shoot it and reload, so it has shot well over 500 rounds. I have never had a problem with it. I see it as a very tough gun. I have it benched for a high grade Westley Drop Lock in .500 NE which I do love. While I bought this gun used from an entertainer who had it custom built, I do not beleive it had been fired since the factory. Since my first trip with it I have already had to have the loop rewelded. The point is I love my new Westley, but it is hard to beat the Kreighoff. I have not have a problem with the cocking system or the fact that it does not have ejectors. David McNeil |

In reply to: I'm not trying to start any rumors, but yours is the second I've heard of with problems of the loop coming off. The first I actually have first-hand knowledge of, as I personally know the guy it's happened to, and it's happened to him twice. |

I own my Krieghoff 470 about a year now. I haven't hunted with it yet but soooooon. I love it. It functions well, The cocking system doesn't bother me at all and it shoulders and points well for me. I'd Still buy it again knowing what I know now. |

The "loop" is the piece of metal soldered to the bottom rib between the barrels and to which the forearm attaches. It's probably more accurately described as a "hook" but the Brits called it a loop and the name has stuck. |

I have a Kreighoff in 375. I have put many rounds through it with out a problem. The pointabilaty of the rifle is superb. The triggers are excellent. The cocking system is a plus to me,you can add other rifle barrels, and a 20 guage barrel. I would buy it again. |

My new Classic's Kickspanner (for cocking) doesn't work properly and must still get fixed. But otherwise the gun seems to be okay. |
