Winchester model 23

This is not actually a question on DR, but on a winchester model 23 sxs shotgun. There's one for sale at champlins. It's a 12g 3" 26 inch barrels.

I'm pretty interested but have no experience with a model 23, I think It's a remake of the model 21 made in the 1980's, but ...

Any idea on quality, reliability of these shot guns?

Sorry for the non DR question, I've just got so use to comming here with my questions I can't think of going anywhere else.

Re: Winchester model 23

rell:

The Model 23 was made for Winchester in Japan at Kodensha (sp?) and was of excellent quality. I've had a 20 gauge Pigeon Grade for about 20 years, and had a 12 before that. The Model 23 is extremely durable. I once had a double discharge caused by crud in the single trigger mechanism after a week of heavy use in extremely dusty conditions. That is the only problem I've ever had in firing many, many thousands of rounds through my 20, including many heavy loads during annual pheasant hunting trips to South Dakota. The single selective trigger is mechanical.

No, the 23 isn't a remake of the 21, they are very different guns. I love my 23, wouldn't have a 21. Didn't see the one at Champlin's on their web site. What do they want for it?
