Now I See!!

I drove 145 miles today to a gun store that I had never been to. They had a double rifle there. First one I have ever held in my hands. They are pretty huh. Thing pointed like a good shotgun.
I'm new to these double things but it is a .375 and it is $7,100 new I think.
Now you all have me wanting one someday!! Dang why did I have to pick it up for?

Re: Now I See!!

The first joy is holding one for the first time.

The second joy is buying one.

The third joy is finding the right load that regulates it.

The forth joy is takeing first blood.

The fifth joy is giving it to your son.

Careful, Slammer, you are about to conract an incurable desease! This is the begining of a habit us poor folks can barely stay above water with! The result is worth the pain, however!

Come on in, the water's fine!

Re: Now I See!!

I think I looked for my double for years and years. I finally found a left handed used double. I went to look at it with the hopes of buying it. I was very disappointed when I saw it. The people I spoke to said why look for a left handed double. Find a great gun and have a lefty stock made for it. I think it was less than a month later I was the proud owner of my first double. I got it back last month restocked lefty and I'm having a ball with it.

My son (15 years old) and is already eyeballing it.

Re: Now I See!!

Dear Slammer,
I am 54 yrs. old, just got my first DR a year and a half ago. I bought it for ME for my birthday. It has taken me about a year to work up a good load for it but I don't regret any time spent working with it. I first started showing signs of DRF (double rifle fever) when I was a young lad and reading of Elmer Keith's exploits as well as Taylor and others. No known cure exsists but the more you own or shoot DRs the better the symptoms are to live with.
By the way, what part of KY are you in??? I'm in southern IN. about an hours drive from Louisville. Perhaps we could get to gether and discuss our "ailment", LOL.
Regards,
SP2
