I noticed that this article tells about using cream of wheat as filler on handloads for doubles. Yes, in the early days, we did things like that, and learned the hard way what not to do. Several double rifles were damaged from using fillers such as plastic/cream of wheat and other cereals, so I thought it best to warn about NOT using such fillers. Ross Sefried (spelling) and a few other knowledgeable writers have warned about not using such fillers, so I am not alone in my observations. Clearly, in some cases, they cause dangerous breech pressures, and history has shown us the path, so don't read old articles suggesting their use, and have to learn the hard way once again. |
