Thanks for that info, I have been trying to get some one here in New Zealand to make me a barrel in 50 Alaskan to make into a quiet one, as you can get 975 gr cast slugs, which I think would be usefull at 1000 fps,I have been useing the 45-70 sub sonic for years on all our deer and wild cattle ! a bit light for cattle ,so the 50 Alaskan would be better .I would have thought the new rifles in calibers up to 30-06 & 9.3-74 should have stronger actions than the older shot guns .Is your gunsmith very knowledgeable on these actions ? Also if you know some one selling 50 cal barrel please let me know ,or you wish to sell your 12 bore barrel ?
