Returned for full refund. The dealer was doubtful at first, and took it in the back and completely disassembled it. Came out with the receiver in hand, and the crack(s) started at the top of the locks, both sides, and traveled almost completely across the rear of the receiver. The two cracks did NOT meet in the middle, but actually bypassed each other in the middle! The buttstock, due to perfect inletting, did not split at all! Truly amazing! Guess this has to be a museum piece now, so it will never be fired. I wonder if even Purdey could fix this? Doug |
