That sort of thing could be done, but it certainly would not be cheap, for, as you indicated, the stock would have to be bent first of all, and finally the tang to fit the inletting, which would not be a simple or inexpensive proposition. The action & tang should be annealed first too, normal practice prior to re-color case hardening, because that tang, with its outer surface case hardened, very well may break or crack during bending, if not annealed first. Even for the most skilled and experienced, this job would be a challenge, but I wouldn't say it can't be done. If one is willing to pay enough money, most anything can be done. |
