Thank you Daryl, This is why there aren't that many double gun makers in the world, it takes time(Labor) to properly regulate a double and labor, especially skilled labor costs money, it becomes a balancing act of charging a reasonable amount of money versus the time involved in doing the job right. If it was easy or there was a cheap machine way to properly regulate a double rifle more companies would be building them but good quality Double Rifles have so much hand labor in them very few want to spend the time and still keep the price affordable. Just look at the results of the companies that have tried to do it cheaply...Pedersoli Doubles, about 1 in 4 is actually close enough that it can be regulated with load development to shoot to a single set of sights, the rest are so far off that they need both rear sights just to get on paper...or look at the mess Sabatti made at the outset by trying to get around doing a proper regulation, filing the crown, not exactly what I would call a good choice. If I could come up with a sure fire mathematical/mechanical way to regulate doubles without all the load development and shooting/adjusting, I'd patent it, sell it to the gun companies and retire on the royalties. Pipe Dreams... Colin |
