aromakr, Yes, I have heard of them and seen them. In 1937 the Winchester Research and Development Department built the first double rifle in 405 Winchester. They only built a few because they couldn't get them to regulate to the accuracy that John Olin had specified at 200 yards. The Winchester 21 organization was so oriented to shotguns that rifles simply were not very important to them. Afterall they had the Model 70 rifle and everyone loved it. They just dropped the idea like they did for several prototypes. Do you know what happened to the set? I see you are from Montana. I have a ranch north of Lewistown near Winifred.------------Bill |
