Just bought Mr. Brown's book on building double rifles on shotgun actions, and first I must say it is an excellent book. Very interesting read, Im currently in early planning stages of building a double (hopefully sometime soon). I was talking to a buddy of mine about different donor action types and he pointed out a type of action that I'd never heard of, I think it's a Darne (sp?) action. In doing a little research about them, at one point they did make a double rifle in 9.3x74mm i believe, but i was wondering how the actions from a 12ga or 16ga would hold up to a rifle? Im not 100% decided of calliber, i'm leaning towards a .450/400 or .450 nitro express, would these actions be able to withstand that much force? Any info would be welcome Erik |
