Re: 35 Winchester

I have a Custom Krag in 35 WCF and much like you I was very concerned about pressure. The '95 Winchester was rated at 45,000 while the Krag was rated at 40,000 pounds - I did not want to push the limit in my old Krag. I settled on a 250 grain Hornady spire point pushed by a CCI standard large rifle primer and 46 grains of IMR 4895 in reformed 30-40 Krag cases which are slightly short. You will see that Daryl S above was speculating that you would be able to use 48 grains of H4895 which is just slightly slower than the IMR stuff. I get no hint of pressure but I do not have a Chrony. Accuracy is superb. COTW shows this combination with 50 grains delivering 2290 fps. I am four grains below this load and I believe that my pressure is acceptable.
