Greetings to all, I am in the planning phase of converting a Rem/Baikal 30-06 to 30-30 Winchester. I have the barrels blanks. I plan on using the existing monobloc. My desire is to make the barrels with a finished length of 20 inches, I haven't decided if I will keep the jackscrew setup or go for traditional regulation. I'm contemplating keeping the barrel contour as close to original as possible. I want to use the original wood, I plan on converting the pistol grip to a straight grip and trim down the overall profile of the stock in the grip area. I have several quarter rib blanks and want to install a more conventional style. I would like to regulate the gun with Remington Green Box 170 gr Core-Lock HP. Excuse the rambling, I would like the opinion/advice (pros & cons) of the many qualified double rifle builders here. I have contacted a few potential gunsmiths (none that frequent this site, that I am aware of) of which all have said they would like to work the project. Your input or opinions would be greatly appreciated. Respectfully WCF |
