If that handload was producing less than the MAP for that particular cartridge, then the 30% oiled case increase on the breech thrust may not even be enough to equal the breech thrust of an un-oiled factory loaded round! What they did has little or nothing to do with gunproof, nor did they adhere to the rules laid down for British gun proofing. They then stamped the gun as being safe for a certain pressure, when they didn't have the faintest idea what pressure they had used during the "proofing". |
