Once you have the spacers machined to shape, the tension of the barrels on them will hold them in place temporarily. Then you need to try the ribs in place. If there is interference, then it's necessary to file or machine the spacer down until it does not prevent the rib from fitting down tightly onto the barrels. It's a pretty simple thing to do really.
