Re: Building a .303 double ( photos)

Hi again Rolland

I plan on using a Yildiz SxS 410 for my project. It is a very nicely made Turkish gun that is a single trigger and can be had in several grades. It is unusual in that the trigger is mechanical, not recoil operated which would be mandatory in a gun that has minimal recoil like a Hornet. I had a brief look at one but didnt take too much notice of the locking arrangement but the Hornet being quite a narrow case shouldnt put a lot of backthrust on the face even though it operates at 3 times the chamber pressure. Havent done the calculations yet. Anyway, the Yildiz I inspected appeared to me to be quite well made and being of modern steels should do the job. Best of all they are reasonably priced - about $1200 Australian for a new base model. Have a look at www.yildizshotgun.com and the Elegant A4, A4 Special and A4 Special L (which is a highly engraved sideplate actioned gun). This firm makes a lot of guns under their own name as you will see and I bet they also make a lot of guns for other "manufacturers" as well. I expect the low prices will be a result of cheap labor and highly automated machinery. They seem highly respected in British gun magazines. Love seeing your project coming together, when I get mobile I'll do the same for those here who may like to look?

Cheers
