Since I become mortal - age does that - I've decided I need my retinas to remain where they are. Having already torn the cartelage in my right shoulder from too much heavy recoil gun shooting, I've cut back on the amount of recoil I'm willing to accept.

I think you will find a BPE in .577 will give you all the recoil you'll want, and then some. The Nitro version will be very violent in comparrison in any weight.

To own a very powerful rifle is one thing, but to be able to take it out and shoot it a lot, is thick icing that is indeed delicious.

I think a .577 Nitro would be just about equal in FP recoil to pulling both triggers at the same time on a 3 1/2" 10 bore 9 pound double - roughly 120 foot pounds.

Is that about right?
